Anubis is one of the oldest Egyptian gods. According to Egyptian mythology, he was the god of death and the ancient god of the Duat before Osiris came to power. He was also the patron saint of embalmers, as he later dedicated himself to embalming the bodies of the pharaohs and guiding them to the necropolis.
