In the religion of Ancient Rome, she was the goddess who personified success and prosperity. She was one of the embodiments of Roman virtues within the imperial cult of the "Golden Age," which elevated the Emperor as the procurator of the Empire's well-being.1 As such, Abundance appears in Roman art, culture, and Latin literature, but has little presence in mythology itself. She may have survived in some form in Roman Gaul and Medieval France.
