The Fruit of Life (a component of the Flower of Life, a body of sacred geometry)[citation needed] is composed of thirteen circles. If each circle is considered a "node" and connected to the next by a single straight line, a total of seventy-eight lines are created. Thus, Metatron's Cube is a geometric body directly derived from the "Fruit of Life"; within the cube, other bodies can be found, such as the two dimensional models of the five Platonic solids.[citation needed]
In early Kabbalistic writings, Metatron is said to have created this cube from his own soul.[citation needed] This can also be seen in Christian art, where it appears on his chest, or floating behind him.[citation needed]
Metatron's cube is also considered a sacred glyph, and is sometimes drawn around an object or person to protect it from demons and satanic powers.[citation needed] This idea also appears in alchemy, where the circle was considered a circle of containment or a circle of creation.
